How to create an aged effect on pallets?

If you want to give a different touch to the pallets of your company in Barcelona One of the ways is by aging it, through different techniques such as Judea bitumen or the vintage technique. Discover the best pallets of Barcelona on our website www.reciclajesmoa.com

Judean Bitumen

Judea bitumen can be found in liquid or paste format and is mainly used to provide an aged appearance to all types of materials, such as wood, plaster, metal or ceramics. Pallet wood is usually the original untreated material and by using Judea bitumen, a dye varnish, you can obtain that authentic aged color, maintaining the natural grains that the wood has.

How does it apply?

It is an easy material to apply, using a brush directly on the pallet and placing a little wax at the end, in order to leave the surface smoother. We recommend, from your company pallets in Barcelona, sand the wood a little before working with it, to avoid roughness and splinters.

When you apply the Judea bitumen with the brush to the areas you want to age, then use a cloth to distribute the product so that it does not create excess. If you distribute the bitumen and dry it a little, you will always achieve a greater aged effect.

Before applying a large amount of polish, do a test on a small, inconspicuous corner of the furniture, as sometimes the polish could modify the base paint. To make sure, you can always apply a layer of clear varnish paint, which acts as a protective barrier between the paint and the bitumen.

 Get a vintage touch

You will need to paint the wood with a very dark base color, such as navy blue. When it has completely dried, you can apply a new layer that should be of a lighter color and following the same tone, that is, a lighter blue.

When this second layer has dried completely, you will need a sandpaper block to sand the edges and corners and all those areas that you want to obtain this antique furniture effect. You can sand until you achieve the desired effect, giving an aged appearance to the entire surface or highlighting some areas more. Then, with the help of a brush, remove the dust from the excess paint and apply, with the help of a cloth, beeswax to the entire piece of furniture to protect the wood and to soften the feel of the surface.
