Types of pallets and their different characteristics

In the industrial sector there are a multitude of tools that facilitate or are part of the processes of the factories and companies that make up said sector. Despite the growing trend in the use of automated tools, there are other types of solutions that have been used for many years and continue to offer optimal performance, such as pallets.

There are various types of them, and they can be classified by different categories. Regarding sizes and measurements, there are mainly two types: the American pallet and the Europallet.

In the first case, also called isopallets, the dimensions are 1200 by 1000 mm and its use is mainly found in American and Japanese logistics operations.

The europallet, on the other hand, which measures 1200 by 800 mm, is the most widespread in Europe, where it is estimated that there are approximately 500 million in circulation, and is regulated by the European Pallet Association.

They can also be classified according to the number of entries that the pallet has, designed to allow them to be grabbed by mechanical bulls and pallet jacks and that they can be transported and stored at height comfortably and without the merchandise suffering any type of damage. .

exist pallets with four entrances, which allows the forklift, mechanical bulldozer or pallet jack to access it from any side, whether the length or width of the pallet, which multiplies its storage possibilities.
There are also those that have only two entrances, which only allows loading from any of the two facing sides that have said entrances.

Pallets offer a solution for storing and transporting goods with high performance and efficiency.

Another way to classify pallets It is the material in which they are made. Each pallet made of different material usually has a different use and is designed for loading different types of merchandise.

The most widespread and demanded are those made of wood, an easily repairable and recyclable type of pallet that enjoys a perfect balance between its price and its resistance and reliability.

Another type of pallet widely used is the plastic pallet, due to the ease with which they are cleaned and stored, since they weigh very little and despite this have a truly remarkable resistance and durability. This is a type of pallet that is also completely recyclable.

In factories and companies in the industrial sector it is also common to find pallets cardboard, more intended for storing and stacking lighter loads. It is the most economical type of pallet and is characterized by its lightness, in addition to being completely disposable and recyclable.
